History

Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University was reformed from “The Nakhon Pathom Teacher Training School for girls”.  In 1968, the school was renamed “The Nakhon Pathom Teacher Training School”. Then, in 1970, the school was promoted to Nakhon Pathom Teachers’ College, then the faculty of Science and Technology was Science Program including chemistry major, biology major and general science major.

In 1975, Science Program has been changed to “Faculty of Science”, as in “The Teachers’ Colleges Act, 1975”, which included many programs such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics and General Science, Health Education, Physical Education, Mathematic, Home Economics, Agriculture, Handicraft Education and Industrial Arts, and Computer.

In 1984, some articles in “The Teachers’ Colleges Act, 1975”were revised and amended, the Faculty of Sciences was renamed “Faculty of Sciences and Technology”, and offered Bachelor Degree in Applied Science (revised curriculum in 1993).

In 1992, Biology Program provided Bachelor of Applied Biology till 2005.

In 1995, The Rajabhat Institutes Act was promulgated. Nakhon Pathom Teachers’ College was promoted to The Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat Institute, and Faculty of Sciences and Technology provided various programs including Biology.

In 1999, Biology Program was renamed “Applied Biology”.

In 2006, Applied Biology Program developed Bachelor of Sciences in Biology with 2 majors—Biology and Microbiology. It was started admitting the students on the 1st semester of 2006.

In 2011, Applied Biology program revised the Bachelor of Science in Biology (revised curriculum in 2011), and started recruiting students in the 1st semester of 2012.

In 2014, the Regulations of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University Re: Higher Diploma Degree and Undergraduate Degrees, B.E. 2557 (2014) adjusted “program” to “department”. Biology Department developed a new curriculum of Bachelor of Education in Biology (5 years curriculum).

In 2015, Biology Department revised Bachelor of Sciences in Biology (revised curriculum in 2011), and renamed the curriculum to Bachelor of Sciences in Microbiology (revised in 2015). It was opened in the 1st semester of 2016.
